The Ricer Series – AE86 Corollas From The SWAT (SW Alief Texas)

Scroll this

Where or what is SWAT?? It stands for Southwest Alief Texas or the SW side of Houston… it’s where I was raised.. went to school… and still reside.  The school district is Alief ISD and is diverse with Hispanic, Asian, Nigerian, Indian, and African cultures…  so you could just drive a couple of minutes to try different types of cuisines.  What I didn’t expect to find were other AE86 Corolla owners on this side of town… one being a couple of blocks away and the other just a few minutes further down the road.  This is where social media comes in handy and connected the AE86 Corollas from the SWAT.

Set up a meeting for all of us to hang out for a quick photoshoot….

I was the first AE86 Corolla in SWAT to finish a Beams swap in the SWAT in 2019… and after, Lorenzo’s Beams Hatch build finished in 2022-23… Kevin’s is the latest of the SWAT builds to finish with a K-swap Panda Hatch.

There won’t be many photos since it was our first time hanging out and were just talking about each others cars…

I’m not gonna do a full write up so I’ll just go over each of their cars…

I’ll start of with Lorenzo’s hatch…

It’s lowered with Annex Suspension Front and Rear (True Coilovers) with 14″ AUGUST Feroce wheels…

The USDM body is fitted with a OEM Kouki JDM front bumper with Zenki lip and clear corner lenses…

The rear of the car is fitted with Kouki JDM OEM rear bumper with redline tail lights…

Lorenzo’s attention to detail and goal of achieving a clean bay can be seen here with the 3SGE Beams swap…

A common add on to the swap are the ITB’s from the 20V AE101 with SQ Engineering Velocity Stacks… In order to run these, Lorenzo is tuned on Link ECU…

Before it was tuned, custom headers were fabbed and fitted by Juan of DreamMakerGoods in Austin TX…

One of the coolest looking headers made for a beams swap…

Lorenzo’s Beams Swapped Hatch is kept simple since he daily drives it with a full interior, Recaro reclineable seats, Link Dash, and a classic Tom’s steering wheel…

Before this shoot, he had actually raised the car and afterwards the rear muffler hangar broke so during the shoot, a couple of zipties held the exhaust up lol…

Next up is Kevin’s K-swapped Panda Hatch…

Freshly built by himself in his garage and tuned by Jason / Stoopidfast (well known Honda/Toyota tuner in Houston)…

Kevin’s plans with the AE86 is just cruising and chilling with the car… unless we get him addicted to driving it hehe…

Wheel and suspension of choice for Kevin’s Panda hatch are 14” Longchamps and Annex Suspension with Divorced setup in the rear…

I don’t know much about K-swaps but Kevin’s swap makes about 270whp…

Tuned on Link ECU / KPro I think…

Filter over the stacks are off now for a better look….

Stacks look wideee….

ITB’s made by Kinsler…

Fitted with TF Works headers for K-swap RWD…

We’ll go into more depth with Kevin’s panda hatch once he finishes tuning the car a little more… maybe more Ricer Series videos!

As usually thanks for stopping by for the short read!
