Another ‘Coffee and Rice’ post? Yep. This time with the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 lens.
I’m usually in bed early Sunday mornings, but I made an exception when Jan Paul of RollingClassics.us said he was visiting Houston. We made sure to get a good gathering of friends to come out for coffee, rice, and tacos….
A few cars had arrived before I did like this Ford 331 swapped 1970 MG MGB GT. The car actually attended Mayday Garage’s Japanese Nostalgic Car Meet this past year. The early Sunday meet up is always interesting because we never know who’s going to show up. Check out the sweet Hyundai behind the MG MGB GT….V8 powered MGB MG… definitely an interesting swap. The Vintage Wheel Works V48 wheels remind me of the classic wats. A good combo for classic cars. The owner doesn’t mind and gives everyone a peak of what’s under the hood. I didn’t get photo of the bay, but you can find more about the V8 MGB build HERE.After grabbing some coffee, I went out to the parking lot in the back to see if there was anything interesting…A blue Ferrari F430 Scuderia was hiding by Reserve Supply Co. If you’ve ever driven one, it can only be described as “Raw”. A very fun car to drive.I also invited the Lone Star Region of the PCA Club so there were a few P-Cars out there like this Porsche Carrera RS.This wasn’t your normal 930 RS….It was a car for serious business. Look at the office equipment inside. It’s also for sale if anyone is interested.A little rust for a 40 yrs old car is not bad.A rear shot of the 40 yr old Porsche Carrera RS. She still got it going on.Slappy’s newly acquired Integra parked in front of the RS. Two different cars, but used for the same purpose.Sadly, this car is also for sale. Hit up Slappyif interested! The weather was getting nice and a few more people would show up. I won’t be surprised if more show up in November and December.Classics and coffee section. The crazy violet wrapped 964 belonged to John N. and the blue 240D belonged to Jan Paul.Definitely an interesting color choice of wrap for the 964.John N. is a P Car collector and owner of RWB “El Hefe”. I didn’t know Jan Paul had invited him out, but it was great to finally meet him!Meeting new people and matching them to Instagram accounts is fun. These early Sunday get togethers gives guys a chance to get away from families for a second to catch up with old friends. Check out Slappy heading out back to the North side of town.Catalina Coffee is the perfect spot to meet up because it’s central to all if not most freeways/highways.Ever since the 25 yr old import rule allowed Japanese classic cars into the U.S., it wasn’t uncommon to see them on the road…Donnie used to be about the Honda life and now, he’s all about the Toyota Carina life.Fender mirrors. I’m not sure how functional they are but they look retro cool.Speaking of JDM cars, this was Chan Le’s aka “Prince of Rice” Nissan Laurel.Yes, that is a backwards Jaguar emblem lol.Chris H.or @beanbone83 is usually the first to arrive at Catalina Coffee. That spot is usually the prime spot for anyone arriving early. This is just one of Chris’ many Japanese classic cars. I think he has a problem or has an addiction…Speaking of addiction…The infamous classic JDM collector @pecxescaped from his family for a bit…JohnP and the other ricers showed up to the taco party as well. Can’t wait to see this thing when it’s done. The FRS belongs to @outlaweking.CJ Martin in his Porsche GT4 from the LSR PCA leaving the early get together. It was his first meet up and found out he’s a fellow Houston photographer.

The candy apple red paint on this MK4 Supra really caught my eye. Check it out when the sun hits it.This wasn’t a big turn out and I’m okay with this. A meet up that gets too big can be stressful. Take a look at Houston coffee and cars.Porsche 951. I thought this was a 944 until someone pointed out it was a Turbo version of the 944.The owner of the Porsche 951 came with Dennis T. and his NA1.When Dennis isn’t in his suit and tie, he’s out cruising in a white tee and baseball cap.
Jan Paul’s 240D. A very minty looking Benz he picked up from a friend in California. He drives this everyday to work from SE to the medical center.
Johnp makes a roaring exit in his NA1.It seems everyone has classic cars now except me… I may have to pick on up just because.Another friend with a good collection of cars is Xerxuz D. This week he brought his Toyota Corona.
Dennis never shows up because he likes sleeping in but he made an effort to hang out.
After taking a bunch of photos of cars, I got bored and just started taking photos of people. These guys are a good group of people.

Last but not least, Johnp’s nicely faded farmers tan.
Sorry for the long post but that’s what “Coffee & Rice/Tacos” at Catalina Coffee is like with the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 lens. Just a bunch of car, rice, coffee, and taco nerds getting together early Sunday mornings.
As always, thanks for reading/skimming through the post!
